Yep - flour and sugar = CARBS.

Fruit juice, which has little nutritional value.

Almost all grains - wheat (BAD, IMO), corn oats, rye, barley, etc.

Lots of veggies have high carb count; beets, onion, bell peppers, carrot, sweet potato.

"Carbohydrates" are not all the same.

The "simple carbohydrates" are ones you might be thinking of; those are made with "white" flour and include most pastries, cookies, cakes, pie crusts, pizza crusts, breads that aren't "whole grain" breads, white rice, noodles that aren't "whole grain" noodles, etc. They're "white" because the bran has been removed and also the germ (which contain most of the vitamins, minerals and fiber, etc); otherwise they would have been brownish.

They're also "sugars" like plain sugar, fruit juice, etc.

Starchy vegetables are also carbohydrates though, for example, but they're "complex carbohydrates" and much healthier than simple carbohydrates, have more fiber, take longer to digest, etc.

Yes, since pastry is made from fat, sugar and flour. Sugar and flour like pasta, bread and cake are carb laden.

The only thing that really have low carbs are fats, proteins and leafy greens.

A pastry would be a bread or cake. Donuts, for example, are a type of pastry.
