Why do people like foods that taste bad?

I like Stilton cheese even though it really strong and stinky. If I ate anything else that tasted like that I would probably throw it away. Or why do we like hot sauce even though it is painful. I never understood that.

Not everyone has the same tastes and different foods taste different to different people.
