Back in 1647 Puritan ruler Oliver Cromwell banned Christmas throughout England; all celebrations were banned including the making and eating of mince pies.

It is illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas Day only. Oliver Cromwell brought this law in as it promoted gluttony and he was a puritan. He also banned Christmas between 1647 and 1660 because celebrating such a holy day was against his religion.

BTW most people in the USA don't like Mince pies, except for my Mom, but there is a good moist mince cookie recipe that I have had before.

I think I will risk the mince cookie police.
