Safe to eat out of date frozen food?

I found a puff pastry block in the freezer. It has obviously been there a long time as the expiry date was December 2011. Is it safe to eat as it has remained frozen?

Generally, if it was put into the freezer around the date it should be fine. Given that the date was eight months ago, the taste and/or texture might be a bit off. Since it's not animal or animal products, it should be okay. (On the rare occasions we find food in the freezer that is past the date, we don't give it to the kids, but eat ourselves, just in case. However, if it's fruit it's usually fine. On occasion I'll find hidden tofu that I'll eat because if it's frozen too long, the texture is a bit off.)

Don't worry, if you have had it for some time it should be fine. It isn't that long out of date. I've had pastry that was in my freezer longer than this. When you defrost it you may find it is a little dry but by the time you cook it it should be ok.

Yes it's perfectly safe. Puff pastry isn't potentially dangerous like meat or dairy product..

If food is frozen BEFORE the expiry date it is safe to use.BUT the rating on your freezer should say how long the food can be in there before you should eat it. Check your freezer rating for timescale.

Most frozen food just deteriorates in quality but is not unsafe.
