we are naturally supposed to eat raw meat because we have enzymes like man-eater animals in our mouth naturally .

and there are countries eat raw meat like lebanon (Keeba naya) and in france too in the north i think can't recall the name now of the dish .

I don't see why not, I have, and it doesn't seem to have done anything bad to me.

That being said, with all the nasty new germs going around, eating raw meat might not be a good idea.

As far as what we ate before we became civilized, you might look at the diet of wild chimpanzees. They are genetically our closest cousins.

Ive seen a program on people who eat only raw meat and they swear by it. apparently its good because you get all the raw nutrients that we miss after it has been cooked at high heats.Personally its not for me, i like mine cooked through. The main problem is making sure the meat is as fresh as physically possible as there will be less chance of killer bacterias. this day in age i don't think that our immune system is too well equip ed to handle raw meats as we are used to it cooked each to their own though

Sure we can. The human body will happily digest raw meat. But you run a greater risk of contracting a food-borne parasite or infection, because cooking usually kills these organisms. That's why pork should always be well-done - pigs often carry parasites that will happily infest humans, given the chance.

The biggest hazard from eating raw meat is contamination by bacteria, and this is a serious problem when meat animals are raised and slaughtered in unsanitary conditions. If you're eating meat that comes from a modern American factory farm, you want to cook it well to kill all the possible germs.

There are healthier living conditions and safer slaughtering methods that mean less contamination in the meat. Raw meat can be perfectly safe under those circumstances.

People can eat raw meat, it's just that it can get unhealthy after a while. On a television show I saw, this family had been eating raw meat their whole lives, then a different wife came in and took them to eat at a good restaurant, where after wards they go really sick.

And to the Inuit and Native American question----- I'm sure they cook their food most of the time. Aside from a couple of bugs? :)

Best of wishes,

Sashimi, tartare, carpaccio - all raw meat dishes. All excellent. If I'm ordering a good steak I will often ask for a cool, blue center.

There's no problems for the body digesting raw meat; the concerns come from contamination, be it parasites or bacteria. To some extent there's a textural component as well. In my opinion cooked meats are often easier to tear, hold and eat.

To answer the other part of your question, the practice of cooking meats predates written written history and was certainly practiced by native Americans and other old cultures.

The only raw meat I have eaten and still eat is beef. No just any cut of the beef,it must be a great cut.(in the fillet)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steak_tartare#Health_concerns

All my life I have eaten raw beef and never got sick. Many people fear bacteria not sure why ?

I also love Carpacio !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpaccio

Men did not discover fire on their first days of life on this earth.

So,of course they ate raw meats.

But I will not touch raw pork for obvious reasons (health)
Thank God 4 everything

well, not exactly, you can eat raw meat as long as it has been cooked on the outside both sides for bout a minute, all the bacteria in beef is on the outside of it
