I ate a bagel with cream cheese yesterday, and I didn't pay any attention to the expiration date. Today I woke up and ate another bagel with the same cream cheese. This time I did notice the expiration date which was June 25, 2013. I know most dairy products are rotten or old anyway such as cottage cheese and yogurt. I know in France they eat cheese with the mold on it. Would this be the same as eating the cottage cheese, yogurt, or moldy cheese.

Not really the same as French cheese, no, there is control over the way the cheese ages.

Was there mold on it? There are so many conservatives in food nowadays, if the cheese looked and tasted all right, so much so that you did not notice it, nothing is going to happen to you. It doesn't sound like you consumed a large quantity anyway.

In cooking school we even learn that most expiration dates are merely indications, not rules. Your eyes and nose are more to be trusted than a date printed to make sure you buy more soon.

Most cream cheese would start to mold after a few days in the fridge.

June 25th is quite a long time to keep the cheese at home.

So far, you're not feeling anything, so you're okay.

If you were sick by now, you'd have diarrhea and vomiting.

In any case, if you do get sick, just drink lots of water, hot soup (you'll need some salt to keep internal balance) and eat dry toast/crackers.

No dairy, no eggs.

Call the doctor if you've been vomiting for hours, as that may be a sign of food poisoning.

That's pretty old. There is mold you can eat and there is mold that will kill you. Cheese mold is ok, just nasty. The thing is with food poisoning is it's very fast. Generally if you have it, you will know it within hours if not minutes. You will be fine, but I would throw it away.

Cream cheese in the fridge from June? For legal reasons, I have no option other than to advise you to consult a health care professional.

Not if it wasn't visibly moldy. Cream cheese usually lasts months longer than it says.

Youll be fine. The look and smell of food is way more an indication of whether or not it's good than the expiration date.
