Why are Americans so incompetent and SLOW?

I'm from the UK and when I went on holiday to New York every fast food outlet I went to I'd have to wait like 20 minutes for my order and it would always be wrong. The queue would barely move even though it wasn't crowded and they looked over staffed with idiot. This happened at subway,burger king, chick a fil, Wendy's, EVERYWHERE. At Starbucks I waited in a queue of about 10 people for literally an hour. Nobody seemed bothered, they just waited patiently as if it's normal. In the UK it would literally take about 2 minutes for a big order at burger king and and I am not exaggerating. Everything would be right and the food would be hot.

I live in the US and we are not all incompetent or slow, but if you judge all Americans by those who work at our fast food restaurants, it would seem we are. Many of those who work in fast foods are teenagers,( so still in school or just air heads anyway), under educated, or people working a second job. Some just don't care because they think they need more money (the current move is for Minimum wages to be raised to $15 an hour). But in my area, if I go to Burger King, Taco Bell, Hardees, or KFC, maybe I will get my order right, and maybe not. If I go through drive through is where most of my problem with incorrect orders occur, but it has happened a couple of times at KFC and taco bell, and there were only 1 or 2 people.

You're just saying that New York is slow and incompetent? And why did you go to fast food places while there are plenty of things to eat and a lot of sight-seeing. I'm from the U.K and I do sometimes think that some Americans can be a bit outspoken depending on what state or the person they are...I try not to be stereotypical about their American culture.

You should have phrased the question as "why are American FAST FOOD WORKERS so incompetent and SLOW?". America in general is the top nation that is responsible for such innovations that you and others rely on (such as the internet). As for why fast food WORKERS are "incompetent and slow" I really can't answer because I don't eat out. I would guess you simply went to bad locations or crowded locations.

Not all Americans are incompetent and slow. Just as not all people from the UK are judgmental.

Next time you visit please stay away from Fast Food places, you can get that same stuff at home. When you are on vacation you need to experience the food of the country not eat the same stuff you have at home.

I live in the US and don't always have that problem I've had a few orders wrong but would just go back and ask them nicely to fix and and not complain about it. And why are you in such a hurry to get your food? I wouldn't be unless I had somewhere to go to after at a certain time and running late but that's why I try not to order before that.

We're overwhelmed by British nitwits. Paul Revere once said "THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING". Fast food employees in America say the same thing and now we all know why....so we can all run and hide. That way we don't have to deal with their shenanigans. Some things never change. ;-P
