Question:
Is it okay to eat blackberry seeds?

Okay....I suspect this is a silly question, but I just want to be sure. I've never eaten blackberries before, but I bought a can of them today. I just opened the can and had a taste of them. They taste okay, but they have really hard, small seeds in them. I can't imagine that everyone spits those seeds out, but they're so hard that I don't know if it's healthy to swallow them.
Is it okay to eat them? Thanks to anyone who answers.

It's totally fine. You can even eat them straight off the bramble bush (if it's in a clean open area). Not only is it ok, it's actually beneficial. It is basically fibre, your body won't digest them so they will remain whole until they leave your body and they strengthen your digestive system along the way and like all fibre, reduce the risk of bowel cancer.

It sure is quite alright. Lived in Southern Louisiana and we picked dewberries and blackberries. Always ate the whole berry. I used to make jams out of them. However, it is a bit annoying to get those tiny little seeds stuck between your teeth. Also is not good for people who have diverticulitis (an intestinal problem where small objects such as seeds can cause major pain in the intestinal tract. You can make jelly out of them where the seeds extracted. But other than that they are not harmful in the least.

Of course. Your stomach can digest basically any organic material. I used to get scared thinking this lemon seed would sprout in my stomach and grow into a tree and kill me, but that's obviously a bunch of nonsense. In fact, seeds can be very good for you. There's nothing to worry about. Not much can survive in your body's juices.
