I had clams for the first time last week. Well clam chowder, actually. The soup was okay, but the clam tasted too much like meat, i thought it would taste more like mushrooms.

So what was the last new food you tried and did you like it?

Thai, and yes, I really liked it and will have it again.

Oh, I just remembered that I had Ruladen, I think that is how it is spelled. Anyway, I was a guest at dinner in a German home and it was served in a delicious gravy. I am invited again, and was asked if I would like it again, of course, I said yes.

I made chicken chili the other day and added "hominy". I never had hominy before but I figured I would try it. It was scary but it ended up being pretty good. (It came in a can, was very white and had a very distinct smell.) I would use it again.

Hominy referrs to corn without the germ. I had it whole but it is served both whole or ground. Hominy is boiled until cooked and served as either a cereal or as a vegetable. This dish is especially popular in the southern United States. Samp is another name for coarse hominy.

I tried cat food the other day. It was an accident. My hubby was getting ready to feed our 3 cats and had scooped out a batch of food for them. I was outside working in the yard and was going to come in and fix a sandwich for lunch. Apparently, hubby got a phone call and was interrupted in the middle of feeding the cats. I thought he had just left some tuna in a dish-- it looked and smelled just like Starkist, I swear! I mixed in some mayo and some pickle relish and smeared it on some bread, grabbed a cold beer out of the fridge and started chowing down. I was hungry, so I had gobbled down half a sandwich before hubby came back in to finish the job he had started. When he couldn't find the food, he asked me about it. I just looked at him, then at the cats, then at my sandwich. Then I got a really odd aftertaste in my mouth and had to rinse it out with some of my beer.

Honestly, the cat food was probably higher quality fish than the Starkist junk they sell to us humans.

Cardoon. It's a member of the artichoke family. I found a recipe for a cardoon-potato gratin, and made it. The cardoon blended well with the potatoes and cheese. It was really yummy.

I never ate real tomatoes before lol. I am a fan of the soup and juice, but the fruit itself is bad.

Actually tonight - at a fancy restaurant - I had a chocolate mousse covered with chocolate ganache- (that's kind of like a heavy icing) It was like heaven on a plate for anyone who likes chocolate!

Sugar-free hot fudge sauce, it was Smucker's brand. Usually I hate sugar-free food but the chocolate actually tasted very good & almost "normal"! I was pleasantly surprised!!!

Why should we try new foods anyways? I always like eating old foods especially spaghetti because then what would happen if I had either German or Japanese food and there was some mercury in it?
